Recently I stumbled upon a new hobby I didn't know that I was interested in; Photography. Using our tax returns this year, Colette and I decided that we would get a new camera. We've had a Canon PowerShot SD750 that has been treating us quite well. Unfortunately while point and shoot cameras are great for every day family memories there are a lot of things that they cannot do. As a result we got ourselves a Canon EOS Rebel XS. For those keeping score that is a DSLR camera.

What's that humming noise?
A couple of days ago, our overlord in the clouds Google released Buzz onto the unwashed masses, and then the next day everyone else. I'm sure that anyone who bothers reading this has already had some experience with Buzz so I won't bother explaining what it is. What it does though is bridge even more gaps win the Google suite of cloud based applications.
So far I'm really enjoying Buzz. I get to see pictures and stories that friends find interesting, chat and email is stuck right in there. You can even have entire conversations that friends from any side of the party can comment on. Essentially it's all the stuff I like about Facebook, without having to actually go to another website.
I'm looking forward to how Wave and Voice are going to fit into all of this

It's been a hard weeks days, or something.
Here's where I'd comment on how long it's been since I updated.
Now that that's out of the way, the wife and I have decided to start dieting again. "Again?" you say, yes again. Last summer we were doing the diet thing and it was working very well. Decided to opt for the eat less not different method and replace snacks with healthier alternatives. It saves on money on the long run because you're less likely to eat fast food which is bad, m'kay. I figured it was time to get into a shape that wasn't round. Thought it would be good to be around to see my kids get into financial trouble and make life changing mistakes of their own. They'll need somewhere to crash.
So far it's been going well. Been at it a week now and haven't "fallen off the whores" just yet. Have been utilizing a website called LiveStrong.com to track calories and fitnesses which helps keep things in perspective. I've also been taking a multivitamin and drinking more water, so my nails and hair are full of life and I have to urinate every half hour. I'll be a cougar in no time!
Zoey is starting to form more and more sentences that actually mean something rather than her thinking they mean something. The boy is almost walking already, which is a lot earlier than Zo started walking. I figure once he's 2 he'll be borrowing money and trash talkin' fools on the 'court. He's already flirting with waitresses and teenagers at the mall. I need to get him a shirt that says "Daddy's Little Player".

Waving from a Wave with my Wave.
So I was reading the Google Wave Blog when I saw a link about 6 Google Wave "Game Changing" features. Of course I had to read the article.

My God... It's full of Chrome!
I've been using Google's browser Chrome for a few weeks now. And other than the occasional "this page don't werk rite" moment I've been very pleased. It doesn't have all the addons that Firefox has (yet) but it's very fast. Not only fast to load pages, but fast to load in general. It has two features that I really like and use often.
The first is the ability to "pin" webpages on the tab bar. What this does is make the tab smaller so that only the favicon shows up. This frees up precious tab space when you've got your favorite pages open all the time (read: Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, Wave, etc).
The second feature allows you to create a "program shortcut" out of a webpage. For example, if you wanted a link that went directly to your Gmail, you can make a shortcut on your desktop, quick launch or start menu. When you start it up chrome creates a window just for that page, sans navigation bar and option menus.
It feels like I'm living in the cloud already.

Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain
I put a Twitter gadget on my blog. It is not my timeline. It is someone elses timeline. That is all.

You're in for a Surprise!
At the Target that I currently am employed at there is a team member (read: employee) only bathroom in the front of the store. Now this bathroom is for boys and girls and of course it locks from the inside and usually smells like poop, which is good because if other parts of the store smelled like poop we'd have issues.
Anyway, on several occasions while I was making a deposit someone came up the door, I'm sure with the intention of using it, and turned the handle followed by a knock. I of course did not respond and they were on their way.
First of all, why knock at all? You already turned the handle, you'd be half way into the bathroom by the time the knock was over. Also, what am I suppose to do? "Hello!" "Come in!" "Sorry! Making Fudge!"
Secondly, I never knock. I turn the handle, if the door doesn't open I know either someone is in there dropping off the kids, or the door is broken and I can't go in anyway. I have decided though that one day, if I go to open the door and it does open and there is someone using the bathroom I'm going to yell "SURPRISE!" and close the door real fast. I don't have to worry, because if they shit themselves they're already in the bathroom.
